Television: Firmware Updates - Download Instructions

Q. How do I update Firmware correctly? * Note: BEFORE DOWNLOADING ANY UPDATES CALL FOR SERVICE:  If a USB has been sent to you by LG Electronics, you must first attach USB Drive to USB port located on the TV and continue to download shown in the On Screen Menu shown in last section below. Please call LG Customer Support for assistance. This will prevent any damage to the unit by improper download or connection. A. TV Firmware updates on Netcast or Broadband TVs should be done with a wired connection. Updating a system by wireless connection may cause corruption in data or update. There are other updates that are not Firmware. A message will appear as these become available. These updates can range from Yahoo, Netflix, and Netcast Widgets. This includes the VUDU TV. Any unit that has Networking capabilities may have various updates that will need to install. * Note: To Update Firmware for any LG device requiring an Update, please visit http://us.lgservice.com . Choose specific model to obtain correct update if available. Q. How is a Firmware different from Netcast Widgets Updates? A. When using a TV with networking capabilities and internet, updates occur as applications change or data is updated. Firmware is different. Firmware is for TV Software and does not update applications that use an internet connection such as Netflix or Yahoo. Netflix and Yahoo have their own individual software updates to maintain proper function. All updates should be done as messages appear. To help prevent error message and other issues in data retrieval. To update Network using a WIRED CONNECTION, select Network under the on-screen display. Then choose Software Update. See Below Software Updates will display either NONE or A Version Number.
