Television: Noise/Audio problems

1. Make sure cables are routed properly for audio. Digital audio will not be able to use monitor out for audio. A digital optical out cable from TV or other device will need to be used.

2. Some TV models have an option to turn of TV speakers or use them for front sound. Make sure these options are not selected if a home theater system is being used. This option can be changed from TV menu.

3. Make sure SAP or audio language is not selected in the TV menu. In the TV menu, change settings to stereo or English. SAP can cause no audio. Low volume during commercials can be corrected by turning on auto leveler using the audio section of TV menu.

4. If audio is bad on just one channel, check the audio settings. Adjust audio settings as necessary. Make sure SAP has not been selected in audio menu. Check audio language for correct setting. This setting should be on English.

5. If a DVD or VCR is being used, check settings on the media device, especially if using a HDMI cable or digital optical audio cable. If no device is being used, check cables. Make sure they are properly installed. Test another cable. If audio is corrected, bad cable may cause an audio problem.

6. If two media devices have been tried on the same input, try another set of cables. Bad cables may cause audio problems. If problem persists after cables have been changed, TV needs service.

7. If a cable box is being used with an HDMI cable, settings on the cable box can affect the audio output. A cable box has a factory setting inside the receiver. Using the TV audio menu, adjust the volume controls and switch to variable or mixed, depending on type of cable box used. Adjust volume on cable box using the menu found on the front panel of cable box. This can be adjusted as needed to adjust volume coming from an HDMI connected cable box. If a power failure occurs or power is switched off and back on, cable box will need to be reset.
