Dishwasher Installation Tips

Q. Who should perform the installation?

A. A qualified techinican should install the dishwasher. This will ensure the unit is installed according to local electric and plumbing codes, which vary from city to city and state to state.

Q. What are the electrical requirements for dishwasher?

A.The unit must be istalled on a dedicated circuit breaker. 120 volts, 60Hz, AC only, 15 amps are the minimum requirements.

Q. What is the water pressure?

A. The water pressure is required to be between 20 ~120 psi. If water pressure is not set between 20 ~ 120 psi, this could affect the performance of the dishwasher during cleaning and rinsing cycles.

Q. What is the water temperature requirement?

A. Water temperature to unit must be maintained between 120°F ~ 149°F. If temperature can not be kept below 149°F, then unit must be connected to cold water supply. Connecting to a cold water supply may increase cycle time and decrease cleaning and drying performance.

Q. Are there any clearance requirements?

A. If the unit is installed in a corner, a minimum of 2 inches is required between dishwasher and the adjacent wall.

Q. Should the power to dishwasher be turned off during installation?

A. For safety reasons, power for the dishwasher should be turned off during installation. If necessary, turn power off at the breaker.

Q. Should water supply to dishwasher be shut off during installation?

A.The water supply valve should be turned off prior to installation. Water supply should only be turned on once installation is complete and ready for use. After installation, run a empty full cycle to check for leaks and proper performance.

Q. What type of tubing can be used for water inlet hose?

A. A copper tube or flexible stainless steel tube (hose) can be used to connect the water supply to dishwasher.

Q. What is the size requirement for inlet hose connector to dishwasher?

A. The size of inlet hose connector (on dishwasher) is 3/8 inch NPT (National Pipe Thread). When purchasing the elbow to connect to dishwasher for inlet hose, the end that connects to dishwasher must be 3/8 inch NPT.

Q. Can mounting brackets be installed to marble or granite?

A. If counters are granite or marble, then secure the dishwasher to the sides of cabinets. Use a magnetic screwdriver so screws do not fall off and into the dishwasher tub. Do not tighten some screws more than the others. This can cause leaking due to dishwasher being tilted or pulled in one direction. Secure each screw tightly and check with a level for accurate installation.

Q. What is the maximum distance to drain?

A. The maximum distance to drain is 10 feet. Do not use extension hoses or pipes for drain hose. Exceeding 10 feet may result in improper draining, cleaning and odor. If you have a sink garbage disposal, it is recommended that a sink air gap be installed.

Q. Can other devices be attached to dishwasher hose?

A. Do not connect other appliances or devices to dishwasher's drain hose (air gap hose connector is exception). This will result in improper operations of the dishwasher
