Freezer frost buildup
- Every time the door opens, cold air escapes and warm air enters the cabinet. The warm air contains moisture that freezes and accumulates in freezer compartment. A small amount of accumulation on food, shelves and rails is normal. To remove moisture, use a warm wet cloth and wipe gently.
- If something is blocking door and preventing it from closing completely may allow warm air to enter freezer compartment. This may cause frost buildup in the unit. Rearrange food items in the freezer so that items are no longer blocking door to freezer compartment. Also, check to see if the door opens and closes smoothly and easily.
- Frost build up may also occur if the temperature is set too low, when there is not much food stored in the freezer compartment, and/or the doors are not opened very often, try raising the temperature in the unit so that it is not as cold.
- Warm air contains moisture, which may freeze. Remove moisture with a warm, wet cloth. Allow food to cool before storing in freezer compartment, this may help prevent frost from accumulating.
- Too much food in the freezer will inhibit proper air circulation and cause frost formation. Make certain nothing is blocking the air vents and compartments. Try rearranging the food items for better air circulation.
