Washing Machine: Too much lint is left on the clothing
Were new items washed? |
Was the washer overloaded? |
New items may produce more lint the first few times they are washed. Load the washer properly and clean drain filter regularly.
For cycles such as Sanitary, Heavy Duty and Normal, the washer can be fully loaded but not tightly packed. Overloading the machine will cause lint to be trapped in the clothing, rather than rinsing out with the water. |
Were the items sorted? |
Were the clothes air or line dried? |
Separate lint-producing fabrics such as towels and sweaters from lint “takers” such as corduroys, synthetics, and permanent press items. Synthetic materials and polyesters easily pick up the lint produced by a towel. Remember to check the drain filter regularly.

Line or air-drying will not remove lint like a dryer because the air movement and tumbling in a dryer actually removes the lint from the load. When clothing is line or air-dried, be sure to shake clothing out well and use a lint roller/brush to remove the additional lint. |
| Were tissue or paper left in the pockets? |
Empty all pockets before loading the machine so items like receipts, tissues, etc. are not washed with the clothing. Tissue or paper will start to disintegrate and look like lint when the cycle ends. If paper or items are left in a pocket by accident, check the drain filter at the bottom left of the washer.
NOTE: Open the manual drain hose first and allow the excess water to drain completely before opening the drain pump filter.
